The European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL), in collaboration with CERN, EIRMA, and ESO, has organized and hosted on April 20-21, 2023, the “European Breakthrough Technology Square” workshop aimed at the researchers of the 18 R&D&I projects from ATTRACT phase 2 to provide them with valuable knowledge to handle the steps towards successful commercialization.
The workshop, which had external expert participation, offered presentations on venture capital, both private and corporate, its expectations, and modus operandi, and researchers had the opportunity to consult experts from the sector to learn about the best way to connect to them. Moreover, in one-to-one meetings, the ATTRACT projects gained specific insights.
This 2-day event was held at the XFEL campus in Hamburg, Germany and was organized by the ATTRACT consortium, composed of big research infrastructures jointly with industry, innovation and business specialists. It offered an exchange among the ATTRACT projects with venture capitalists, experts in innovation ecosystems, R&D Industrial networks, and intergovernmental basic science institutions, among others.
During the workshop, participants could learn about the best practices in the relationship with suppliers and how to involve them in co-innovation. Focus was put on the need for the creation and sustainability of an innovation ecosystem to pursue a place in the market. Moreover, they also attended clinic sessions where they could communicate their particular needs to the ATTRACT consortium.
