In today’s technologically driven world, the complexity of knowledge value chains is on the rise due to ongoing innovation. Emerging technologies and disruptive innovations continually generate new market prospects. In this regard, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Summit 2022 was presented on 7-8 December in Brussels to discuss these topics, and on the second day, the ATTRACT project was introduced as an example of an innovation ecosystem for technology transfer.
This event was organized by the EIC and SMEs Executive Agency with the aim of discussing European innovation policy developments and challenges, but also to give participants practical tips on what they can apply to their projects. The second-day session explored the valorisation of Research and Innovation (R&I) knowledge, specifically focusing on the journey of technology transfer from research to the marketplace. The discussion highlighted effective practices and the ATTRACT model’s novel approach to fast-track the application of fundamental science via co-innovation, alongside successful collaborations between researchers and Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs).
The EIC Summit 2022 demonstrated the power of collaborative innovation. It offered a glimpse into the future where technology and creativity merge to address pressing global challenges, proving once again that Europe remains at the forefront of the innovation frontier.
