What has the ATTRACT seed funding enabled you to do so far?
The ATTRACT funding is a perfect scheme for transforming basic science ideas into emergent technologies. It has allowed us to experimentally validate ideas and build prototypes for key applications. It essence, it has allowed us to build our own unique technology, opening the door for further development and future commercial exploitation.
What challenges have you faced so far?
We have faced several technical challenges associated with the technological application of novel scientific ideas. There is a large gap between experimentally demonstrating a novel effect, sufficient for academic publication, and building a useful technology with it. For example, we have had to face the tighter nanofabrication constraints to transform an experimental demonstration into a device.
Where does your ATTRACT journey go from here?
ATTRACT has given us the opportunity to go from the stage of basic science to technological innovation. The goal for the next months is to keep building prototypes and establishing our own technology. The next phase would be to sharpen our prototypes for the key applications that we have identified, expand our knowledge of the market sector, and identify partners for the next phase.

The ATTRACT Programme is willing to fund innovative ideas if they have potential for a technological impact. It is also has a very efficient management systems so that resources can be dedicated to scientific efforts.
